Abstract

This study examines the role of material culture in the educational and personal development of students engaged in the arts, focusing on Kazakhstan’s cultural heritage. The study aims to understand how material culture enriches the learning environment and fosters student creativity. The methodology employs an interdisciplinary approach, integrating cultural studies, aesthetics, historical analysis, and axiological perspectives and relies on communication, interviews, and observation to gather data. The study involved 1,087 participants aged 4 to 15, whose differences in engagement and interest in material culture were examined. Results showed that students displayed a strong interest in their cultural heritage, regardless of gender, and that material culture significantly enhanced their aesthetic taste, motivation for self-expression, and knowledge in arts. Male participants showed heightened engagement during practical classes, particularly in tasks related to Kazakhstan’s material culture. The findings underscore the importance of integrating cultural traditions into education to cultivate creativity and cultural awareness. The study concludes that the use of material culture in education can inspire students to respect folk traditions and deepen their creative potential. [Este estudio examina el papel de la cultura material en el desarrollo educativo y personal de estudiantado vinculado a las artes, con un enfoque en el patrimonio cultural de Kazajistán. El objetivo es comprender cómo la cultura material enriquece el entorno de aprendizaje y fomenta la creatividad estudiantil. La metodología emplea un enfoque interdisciplinar que integra los estudios culturales, la estética, el análisis histórico y las perspectivas axiológicas, y se apoya en la comunicación, las entrevistas y la observación para la recolección de datos. La investigación incluyó a 1087 participantes de entre 4 y 15 años, cuyas diferencias en el grado de implicación e interés por la cultura material fueron examinadas. Los resultados mostraron que el estudiantado manifestó un marcado interés por su patrimonio cultural, independientemente del género, y que la cultura material influyó significativamente en el desarrollo de su gusto estético, la motivación para la autoexpresión y los conocimientos en artes. Los participantes masculinos evidenciaron una mayor implicación durante las clases prácticas, especialmente en actividades relacionadas con la cultura material de Kazajistán.
