Abstract

I capture the essence of my community by photographing mundane textures, blending them together to create abstract representations of my surroundings. This process helps me refocus on the overlooked fragments of my environment, especially on details that often disappear when I become too comfortable in a familiar space. Through this work, I explore how we subconsciously absorb visual information from our communities, and I aim to present environments that shift from representational to nonrepresentational, challenging viewers to see the familiar in unfamiliar ways.
