Abstract
Drawing from the ancient Greek concept of harmonia, meaning a joining together, this interactive workshop explores new harmonies in body mapping as an emancipatory pedagogy. Bridging Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, we unite trauma-informed visual art with vibration-based, Deaf-led music pedagogy to nurture multisensory inclusion and embodied learning. We interweave breath, vibration, and movement within the person, and we join visual body mapping with Deaf-led vibration across cultures/heritages. As such, we explore multisensory inclusion through silence, touch, and shared experience, allowing all participants, not only those with different abilities, to sense inclusion through shared artistic experience, collectively unpacking topics of access, inclusion and participation through innovative decolonial research and emancipatory pedagogical body mapping practices. Guided by justice-centered arts-based pedagogy, participants will experience a full sensory cycle: sensing rhythm and vibration through the body (sensory input), translating these inner sensations into visual form on a collective body map (artistic output), and reflecting together on inclusive research and learning. This process allows participants, regardless of ability, to experience inclusion through shared artistic practice. By collectively unpacking themes of access, participation, and voice, the workshop demonstrates how art, sound, and embodiment become acts of resistance, solidarity, and collective transformation, turning passive learners into active, embodied co-creators of knowledge.
