Abstract
One of the most significant crises in today’s world is the environmental crisis. Much has been said about the nature and dangers threatening humanity today, and numerous solutions have been proposed from various perspectives. The consequences of human activities have led to serious crises such as water scarcity, climate change, and other environmental issues. Today, this situation has progressed to the point where life has become impossible for humans and other creatures in some regions. The influential role of environmental activists in reducing environ- mental problems is of great importance. In line with the activities and warnings of environmental activists who have played a significant role in raising public awareness for years, artists have also tried to express these consequences to the general public in a tangible and visualizable way through the language of art and imagery. Photography is one of the effective arts in environmental crises that can bring environmental issues to a wider audience. This research examines the effectiveness of photography in environmental crises, focusing on visual reports from Iranian news agencies in the decade (2011-2021). The statistical samples of this research are 7 visual reports with 8 photographs from Iranian news agencies, selected based on their highest effectiveness and relevance to environmental topics. The results show that visual reports can have significant importance and impact on the environment, and with increased awareness, we can hope for improvements in the environment and the quality of human life.
