Abstract
This paper explores the potential that art, created with generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), may have in supporting student learning in a Master of Education course with an international student cohort. A literature review reveals a gap in studies that explore GenAI art making and its potential to support learning in graduate studies. This qualitative study draws from a class activity where students were asked to visualize an educational concept using a GenAI tool. Students were also asked to reflect on their GenAI output by writing a short essay to accompany their visualization. A preliminary thematic analysis of the visual and written work has shown that creating GenAI artwork and reflecting on the process supported student learning by expanding on understandings of educational concepts. Drawing on constructivism learning theory and literature on internationalization in Higher Education, I discuss my findings from this ongoing research study.
