Abstract
This study explores the presence and impact of women in authentic leadership within the automobile industry in India, focusing on how authentic leadership influences the sponsorship and growth of women leaders. As industries increasingly operate in a volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA/BANI) environment, organizations must embrace disruption and foster resilience within the workplace. The research examines the role of authentic leadership in encouraging organizational sponsorship, and its relevance for women leaders navigating challenges in a traditionally male-dominated sector. Using a qualitative approach, the study involves in-depth interviews with five women leaders and three focus group discussions with mixed-gender employees across three automobile companies in India. Data analysis employs interpretive phenomenological analysis (IPA) to uncover the experiences of women leaders, their challenges, and how authentic leadership fosters an inclusive environment that propels career advancement. The study’s findings offer insights into gender diversity, leadership, and organizational transformation in the modern workplace.
