Abstract
The Ancient Silk Routes required collaborative solutions to complex trade relations among Rome, Parthia, India, China, and other nations. The thesis of this paper is the Silk Route was a harbinger of collaborative solutions to complex social issues in the future. Historiography and conceptual analysis of the writings ancient and modem historians are used. International trade between ancient Rome and China, faced linguistic, geographic, cultural, transportation and communication, and banditry problems that required collaborative solutions among the trading partners. The Silk route was a harbinger of collaborative solutions to complex social issues in the future. Many issues faced in the modern world rely on force and war. Humankind could displace war with productive, collaborative policies, such as diplomacy, trade, and exploration of the sea and cosmos. Roman trade with China is an example of productive, solution to complex social issues. Nations can meet their needs through trade, rather than destructive warfare.
