Built Environment through Social Development in Mexico: Improving Affordability and Proximity in Our Urban Environment

Abstract

This work presents research based on a documentation methodology focused on real estate development proposals with a social focus, integrating user needs, the urban characteristics of the land to be developed, and the connection to public space, allowing for improved livability and urban development. The Social Workshop arose from the need to translate a solution centered on community participation and territorial planning into a comprehensive proposal to ensure housing developments consistent with the urban environment. This is the raison d’être of the profession, as it allows us to delve deeper into the needs of the community. Analyzing, diagnosing, proposing, and studying solutions through innovative and modular projects, while providing the opportunity to connect with a vulnerable and unprotected sector of the population, allows students and developers to strengthen their social awareness and responsibility for the future of construction, linking knowledge of architecture and urban planning with values and habits that translate into ethical professional performance for the benefit of users, residents, clients, and their staff. Leading all personnel involved in the real estate development process, providing new tools to the most disadvantaged sectors. This study provides a series of proposals that enrich urban solutions, generating an adequate analysis that demonstrates proximity to service facilities, infrastructure, and transportation.
