Transforming Face of the Humanities

Abstract

This essay explores the transforming face of the humanities by viewing new methods, interdisciplinary blending, and increasing power of digital technology. As boundaries between the old and the new dissolve and new ones shape scholarly research, the humanities are undergoing a transformational evolution. This study examines these changes critically through a review of current literature, case studies, and theoretical frameworks, and it identifies how these emerging trends endanger as well as enrich the humanistic tradition. Lastly, it is argued in this paper that the humanities are not in decline, but rapidly changing, offering new ways of understanding human culture, identity, and society.
