Abstract
This research presents the official narratives of the Armenian SSR in former State Revolution Museum of Armenian SSR (further, RM). It is significantly important how RM was implementing the propaganda of Soviet Union’s official history in frames of Armenia’s Memory Policy. Located in the very heart of Yerevan, in the building of National History Museum of Armenia, Revolution Museum became one of the most visited museums of Armenia. Being established in 1920s, and later becoming part of Soviet Museum Network, RM was not only a cultural center, but a scientific center to impact official historical narratives that still echo in cultural legacy, Collective Memory and even political and cultural ideologies of Armenia today. The current research was launched by examination of primary sources (archival documents, reports, diplomas, photos, official orders and corresponds) and interviews with former employees of Revolution Museum (from senior research associate to the head of archival department). After examining the exceptional role that was given to RM by Soviet Museum Network the analyses of historical narratives have been done. Research has determined seven historical grand narratives of Armenian SSR’s Cultural Propaganda. Having immersed deeply into consciousness of soviet Armenian public, some of those narratives still constitute the major part of Armenian Collective Memory regarding soviet legacy and heritage.
