Reimagining Communities through an Innovative Multilingual Pedagogical Model: Chorus as an Embodied Multilingualism

Abstract

This paper presents a research project linked to foreign language teachers, artists, design thinkers and developers to explore how Arts and Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) can bring together students to learn about each other through multilingualism settings. Our thesis is that theatre/music‑based voice work can accelerate multilingual competence while deepening intercultural understanding in our communities. The methodology used to support our research project is based on an innovative approach theorized in what we will call “Embodied Multilingualism”. The aim of this project is to develop conceptual frameworks and novel pedagogical competencies needed to integrate innovative technologies in diverse languages into comprehensive designs of learning experiences worldwide. The implication of this model positions ensemble voice work and reflective practice as catalysts for prosodic fluency, confidence, and empathy, while employing A.I. as a support, under strict privacy safeguards. This project would enhance our understanding of a significant pedagogical model: how to best prepare educators to be effective in preparing their students to meet the challenges for example using language tools such as Duolingo, Google Translate and ChatGpT. This project is innovative in how it intricately links arts and technology, action and reflection, diverse languages as well as cross-cultural communication to become multilingual. Its originality offers a theory-driven, practice-ready template that aligns embodied methods with A.I. in multilingual classrooms. To conclude, we believe that the substance of these cultural exchanges will focus on increased understanding of diverse linguistic perspectives in rigorous learning and research processes.
