Cristina Toledo-Báez, Associate Professor, Translation and Interpreting, University of Málaga (Spain), Spain

Description

Born in Málaga in 1982, she is an Associate Professor (with tenure) at the Department of Translation and Interpreting of the University of Málaga. She is recognized as Full Professor since October 2024. She holds a BA in Translation and Interpreting from the University of Malaga (2004) as well as a PhD in Translation and Interpreting (with Doctor Europeus mention) (2009). She was awarded the School of Arts' Best PhD Award in 2009. She has been a visiting scholar at the Copenhagen Business School (Denmark), University of Wolverhampton (United Kingdom), Dickinson College (USA) and Centre Privé de Langues (France). She is currently leading a research line dedicated to research and teaching of language technologies, focusing specifically on machine translation and post editing. Within this field, she is leading several competitive national and local research projects as well as a permanent group of innovative education. Published and cited extensively, her research results have been made public in international academic conferences and publications. She has been acknowledged 3 six-year periods of research activity, 3 five-year teaching periods, and 2 regional government allowances for teaching and research. She is co-editor of two Journals of Law, Editorial Assistant of another Journal of Law and she is also a member of the editorial board of other three top-ranked journals. She collaborates as evaluator for the Spanish Research Agency, the Agència Valenciana d’Avaluació i Prospectiva and the Slovak Research and Development Agency. She is a lecturer at European Masters in Technology for Translation and Interpreting as well as at several Master's Programmes (Universities of Alcalá, Córdoba and and Málaga). She has been an invited lecturer at the Master's Programme on Natural Language Processing from the University of Wolverhampton (United Kingdom). She has also lectured at the University of Cambridge and University College London (United Kingdom) as well as at the University of Kent (United States). She belongs to the talent platform International Mentoring Foundation for the Advancement of Higher Education (IMFAHE), the Research Institute of Multilingual Language Technologies (IUITLM) and the research group of excellence Lexytrad (HUM-106), the last two at the University of Málaga.
