High Sensitivity as a Determinant of Social Relations and Quality of Environment in People with Tetany Syndrome

Abstract

The present study deals with the constructs of high sensitivity and the diagnosis of tetany syndrome (TS) as determinants of the domains of quality of life - environment and social relations. The research included 364 respondents, of whom 115 reported a diagnosis of TS and the remaining 249 were without a diagnosis of TS. The following questionnaires were used for data collection: HSPS questionnaire and WHO Quality of Life Questionnaire WHOQoL-BREF. In processing, comparison, correlation and ANCOVA analyses were used. The results indicate that high sensitivity has a general effect on social relations and environment as domains of quality of life regardless of whether it is a diagnosis of TS, as long as they are tested together. Tetanics score statistically significantly lower in the domain of social relationships and higher in the variable of high sensitivity. Correlations in the groups of tetanics/non-tetanics showed a negative relationship between sensitivity and social relations as well as with environment.
