Description

Liat Ayalon is a Clinical Psychologist and Full Professor in the School of Social Work at Bar Ilan University, Israel.

Her research primarily focuses on ageism—prejudice, discrimination, and stereotypes based on age. She has led significant international initiatives, including coordinating an EU-funded Ph.D. program on ageism (EuroAgeism.eu) and directing a research network funded through COST (Cooperation in Science and Technology; COST IS1402).

Prof. Ayalon's work also explores the intersection of formal (paid) and informal (unpaid by family and friends) care for older adults. She has examined various formal care services, considering the perspectives of older adults, formal care providers, and informal caregivers. Her research has influenced policy discussions, leading to presentations before the Israeli parliament and the National Insurance Institute of Israel.

In addition to her research, Prof. Ayalon serves on the advisory board of the International Psychogeriatric Association and consults with national and international organizations on developing and evaluating programs and services for older adults.

She was recognized by the UN Decade of Healthy Ageing as one of 50 world leaders working to transform the world to be a better place in which to grow older.

This session will be recorded, a video recording will be posted below for registered delegates shortly following the session.
