Mapping the Intellectual Landscape of Green Hotel Purchase Intentions among Millennials: A Bibliometric Analysis

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to use bibliometric analysis to map the research trends and intellectual structure of millennials’ intention to purchase green hotels. Understanding the factors that influence millennials’ eco-conscious hotel preferences is crucial as sustainable tourism gains traction. Scholarly publications obtained from Scopus database between 2015 and 2025 were subjected to bibliometric analysis. Co-authorship networks, keyword co-occurrence, citation patterns, and thematic progression within the field were shown using VOSviewer and Bibliometrix (R). Particularly after 2015, there has been an increase in scholarly interest in green customer behavior in the hospitality industry. Perceived value, green trust, eco-labels, and environmental attitudes are important research areas. Along with rising subjects like greenwashing skepticism and digital influence on eco-purchase decisions, influential authors, organizations, and publications are listed. By giving scholars and practitioners a thorough grasp of significant works and developing themes, the study’s insights allow more focused research and marketing tactics aimed at millennials who care about the environment. By providing the first bibliometric mapping of the multidisciplinary research landscape on millennial green hotel buying intentions, this work adds to the body of literature on sustainable tourism.
