Abstract
Egyptian heritage handicrafts represent a vital component of the nation’s tangible and intangible cultural heritage, reflecting centuries-old traditions, artistic expressions, and local knowledge systems. Despite their historical and cultural significance, these crafts face numerous challenges in the modern era, including globalization, mass production, loss of traditional skills, limited market access, and insufficient institutional support. Additionally, younger generations often show declining interest in learning and preserving these crafts due to socio-economic pressures and the perceived lack of profitability. This study explores the current state of Egyptian heritage handicrafts, analyzes the key obstacles hindering their sustainability, and examines initiatives and policy frameworks aimed at their preservation and revitalization. By shedding light on both the challenges and emerging opportunities—such as heritage tourism, digital marketing, and community-based development—the research offers strategic perspectives for safeguarding and promoting Egypt’s rich artisanal legacy in the 21st century.
