Abstract

En el presente estudio se describe el estado actual de las prácticas de lactancia materna en un centro materno-infantil en el estado de Hidalgo, México. El objetivo es documentar las prácticas interculturales desde la educación no formal, por una parte, las propias de la madre y sus estilos de crianza, y por otra, las promovidas desde un centro materno-infantil. En este estudio de corte cualitativo descriptivo se muestran las experiencias de la educación comunitaria en esta fase de vital importancia para el desarrollo humano al inicio de la vida. A partir de una correcta orientación educativa hacia la práctica de la lactancia materna, se presentan resultados, sugerencias y conclusiones rescatando la importancia de la concertación de esfuerzos de los sectores y actores involucrados en este tema. La familia es el primer contexto social de niños y niñas, por ello es muy importante que los valores, creencias, normas, cultura y formas de conducta sean lo más apropiados para beneficiar no solo su relación con otros sino también su desarrollo psicológico, social, emocional y físico. [This study describes the current state of breastfeeding practices at a Maternal and Child Center in the state of Hidalgo, Mexico. Its aim is to document intercultural practices within the framework of non-formal education, focusing on, on the one hand, mothers and their parenting styles, and on the other, the role of a maternal and child center that promotes breastfeeding. This descriptive qualitative study shows the experiences of community education in this phase of vital importance for human development at the beginning of life, based on a correct educational orientation toward the practice of breastfeeding. Results, suggestions, and conclusions are presented, highlighting the importance of concerted efforts of the sectors and actors involved in this issue. The family is the primary social context for children; therefore, it is essential that values, beliefs, norms, cultural practices, and behaviors are conducive to fostering not only healthy relationships with others but also the child’s psychological, social, emotional, and physical development].
