Changing Indigenous Landscapes: Cultural Resilience and Revival in USA

Abstract

My paper focuses on the manner in which indigenous communities in present-day United States have displayed cultural resilience and revitalized their spiritual practices. This has been achieved by blending contemporary topics with traditional beliefs. The revival and practice of traditional religions in the 20th and 21st centuries meant overcoming a past in which they were stigmatized and suppressed by earlier European settlers in the colonies. This gradual revival is largely due to the increased legal recognition of Indigenous rights. This revival in the 21st century, is unique in that it is occurring in a more interconnected spiritual landscape and able to reach the younger generation.
