Abstract
One issue that has been on the rise is witnessing a lot of government leaders establishing policies and expectations that are rooted in both patriarchy and religion in both the North and South American Regions. Many of these policies and societal expectations were designed with the full intention of limiting individuals from receiving basic opportunities and resources that are often given to those who do benefit from social hierarchy. The purpose of this research is to understand some of the repercussions many women and LGBTQ+ individuals face and how it further perpetrates violence and instability among these individuals who live in the regions of North and South American countries. In order to gather information I intend on utilizing a mixture of both qualitative and quantitative research methods which will consist of analyzing case studies, statics, news and journal articles on testimonies and percentage numbers of women and LGBTQ+ individuals who have encountered any form of violence and discrimination due to their gender or beliefs. As I conduct this research I review regions in which both women and LGBTQ+ individuals will more likely to encounter acts of violence, punishments, discrimination, or murder will be regions that prominently promote values, policies, and punishments that are rooted in patriarchy and religion. This includes regions such as Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, and the U.S.
