Harnessing Technology for Learning and Teaching: Addressing Technology Barriers in Online Higher Education

Abstract

Through a comprehensive analysis of our research, this study examines student-facing barriers such as access to technology, digital literacy gaps, and learning management system challenges. Additionally, we will delve into faculty-facing obstacles, including adapting to online teaching platforms, creating engaging digital content, and facilitating virtual student interactions. The presentation will highlight innovative solutions and best practices that have successfully addressed these barriers, showcasing adaptive learning technologies, virtual and augmented reality applications, and effective mobile learning strategies. We will also share the intent of our research and findings. The session will include a discussion of emerging trends in educational technology and ideas for continuous improvement in online higher education. This session is designed for faculty, administration, and support staff who are committed to enhancing the quality and accessibility of online learning. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the technological landscape in online higher education and leave informed about potential barriers in their own educational contexts.
