Abstract
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming higher education, creating both extraordinary opportunities and significant challenges for institutions dedicated to liberal education, equity, and democratic engagement. From AI-powered personalized learning and predictive analytics to generative tools like ChatGPT, AI promises greater efficiency, pedagogical innovation, and new avenues for engaging students. Yet these advances also bring complex risks, including deepening existing social and economic inequities, introducing algorithmic biases, threatening academic integrity, and diminishing human agency in teaching, learning, and institutional decision-making. We invite educators, administrators, technologists, and higher education leaders to confront these head-on tensions. Participants will explore how colleges and universities can thoughtfully integrate AI while safeguarding the core values central to the mission of e-learning pedagogy. Through robust dialogue, participants will examine both practical strategies and philosophical considerations for navigating the disruptive power of AI.
