Billie Eilam holds a Ph.D in Education from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa. She is currently a senior lecturer in the University of Haifa, Israel, and the director of the Laboratory for Research in Cognitive Processes of Learning. She was the Head of the department of Teaching and Teacher Education in the faculty of Education in the University of Haifa. Her research focuses on the learning sciences as related to instruction, curriculum design, contextual and cultural factors, with emphasize on cognitive skills in general, and skills related to visual representations in particular. Her studies examine the application of learning theories in authentic learning situations. Dr. Eilam is currently authoring a book about visualization and authored chapters and articles in refereed journals. Dr. Eilam served on several national committees in education and has won several grants for developing curriculum materials and for conducting research on learning.
