Update #4 CyberHelper Reflection

I used a variety of CyberHelper tools throughout the research and writing process for my scholarly essay, "Enhancing Learning Transfer in Continuing Education: The Role of Formative Assessment and Reflective Practice."

I began with the Brainstorm tool. I wrote down a number of ideas on continuing education and learning transfer. The tool helped me narrow down my ideas into a more succinct start of a thesis statement regarding describing the theoretical foundations of formative assessment and reflective practice and analyzing how these practices can improve workplace learning transfer. I interacted with the Brainstorm tool by inserting different sentences to try out different possible topics and approaches and chose the one that I was of most interest to me and likely to come to fruition.

I then used the Research tool, which identified scholarly texts and authors describing the educational theories that applied to my thesis statement. I interacted with the tool to request more information regarding certain authors and theories. From there, I was able to conduct my own research to explore these texts and articles to begin to develop scholarly arguments and critiques. Of all of the tools, I found the Research tool particularly effective at pointing me in the right direction.

I used the Plan tool further along in the development of my essay, though I did not expressly follow the suggested outline, titles and subtitles.

After I completed the draft, I tried out the Check Flow tool, which made a number of helpful suggestions regarding transitions, tense, voice, sentence structure, and clear expression. It also recommended moving certain sections around. I have yet to make these changes (alrealdy submitted for CyberReview and Peer Review), but intend to circle back and implement them before final submission.

Overall, CyberHelper significantly influenced my research and writing process, though at times the long lists of recommendations became unwieldy to digest and implement.
