Lawrence Izuagie’s Updates

New Research Study

Hello everyone,

I’m thrilled to share that my current qualitative case study, which focuses on exploring how an educator’s identity and cultural lived experiences shape their interpretation of a culturally relevant storybook, just got the nod from my institution’s IRB.

This study centers on a Nigerian early childhood educator, examining how her personal and cultural background, including rich traditions of oral storytelling and folklore, guides her understanding and use of children’s literature. I’m particularly excited that the storybook in question is one I authored myself. It’s incredibly fulfilling to see someone else explore my creative work and use it to teach young children essential social-emotional learning (SEL) competencies such as empathy, cooperation, turn-taking, respect, unity, love, and peace.

Although the storybook is still undergoing pedagogical review and academic refinement, I will share its plot and setting once those steps are finalized.
