Abstract
Connecting Through Culture explores the role of community museums and the practice of curating, with a particular focus on their unique characteristics in the Indian context. Community museums (ecomuseums) prioritize local heritage and actively involve the community throughout the exhibition process. Drawing on examples from the Vechaar Museum and the Museum of Santal Culture, this paper examines the significance of community museums in preserving diverse cultural heritage. Additionally, it highlights the role of curators in facilitating community engagement, ensuring the authenticity and relevance of exhibitions. We share insights of the vital relationship between curators and community museums in the preservation and presentation of community heritage.
