Abstract
Inspired by my previous experience (co)designs, this workshop aims to draw on affective pedagogy, expressive arts and active listening to provoke a way of exploration and discussion about inclusion within museum settings. Beginning with engaging participants with artwork replicas or ordinary objects placed in the space, the interaction will emphasize bringing participants’ presence and attention to the objects and themselves. Participants will be encouraged to express their feelings through art-making that echoes their experiences while responding creatively to one another. This initial 20- to 25-minute session would serve as an invitation to inform the following discussion on how to make museums more inclusive. Based on the predefined directions regarding issues of inclusion, participants will have space to creatively share their thoughts and feelings, and later actively attend to others’ contributions to become aware of the diverse forms of expressions the group can share. As they begin to learn more about how they can connect with one another, mutual understanding and a drive for brainstorming will take shape around the topics.
