Bridging the Gender Gap in Educational Technology in the Philippines
One pressing issue in Philippine education today is the gender gap in access to and use of technology. While both boys and girls are increasingly exposed to digital tools, studies and classroom experiences reveal that girls, especially in rural areas, often have less access to computers, gadgets, and ICT training compared to boys. This limits their participation in STEM-related fields and hinders their digital confidence. As a future educational leader, I believe schools must actively promote gender-responsive digital education by ensuring equal access to devices, offering ICT programs that empower female learners, and highlighting women role models in technology. Addressing this issue is not only about fairness, it is about preparing all learners, regardless of gender, to thrive in a technology-driven future.
