Harnessing Big Data for Educational Improvement in the Philippines
One significant aspect of big data in education is learning analytics, which involves collecting and analyzing student performance data to improve teaching and learning outcomes. In the Philippine education system, big data can work through platforms like the Learner Information System (LIS) and Learning Resource Portal, where student attendance, grades, and engagement are tracked to identify learning gaps and trends. As a future educational leader, I see big data as a powerful tool to make evidence-based decisions, helping teachers design targeted interventions, monitor student progress, and allocate resources effectively. However, its success depends on proper data management, teacher training, and ensuring data privacy. When used responsibly, big data can transform Philippine education into a more adaptive, inclusive, and results-driven system.
