Bridging Gaps, Building Futures: DepEd’s ARAL Program for Filipino Learners
The Department of Education’s ARAL Program (Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning Program) is a nationwide initiative aimed at addressing persistent learning gaps among Filipino students. Established through the ARAL Law signed by President Marcos in 2024, it focuses on strengthening foundational skills for Kindergarten and enhancing literacy and numeracy for Grades 1 to 10.
The goals of the ARAL Program are to bridge learning gaps, ensure educational recovery, and raise the overall quality of Philippine education. Its objectives include:
- Providing targeted and data-driven interventions for struggling learners.
- Offering free tutorial sessions and support mechanisms, especially for those affected by the pandemic.
- Helping around three million students meet grade-level competencies.
- Promoting inclusive and accessible learning opportunities for all Filipino learners.
Through these efforts, ARAL seeks to equip students with essential skills, support their academic progress, and build a stronger foundation for lifelong learning.

Such an amazing move from the National Level force. Here at the college level, I can definitely confirm the difficulty in some macro skills of the students who, I presume and hope, were unintentionally labeled as secondary or elementary level completers, but were in fact not. It may be out of good motive, but the most toll is on the students' skills and future, so it is absolutely inspiring to know that such works are implemented.
I hope this will be a success
Yes, I believe in this. It is a great way to ensure the learners are able to read before they graduate.
