New Learning MOOC’s Updates

Learning Management System (LMS) – Google Classroom

Google Classroom is a widely used e-learning platform in Philippine schools, enabling teachers to distribute materials, assign tasks, and provide feedback online. It organizes learning into digital modules, streamlining communication between teachers and students.

Analysis:

  • Didactic/Mimetic Pedagogy: Google Classroom can reflect a didactic model when it is mainly used for uploading lecture notes, assigning tasks, and checking answers. In this mode, it reinforces the traditional teacher-centered, knowledge-transmission approach.
  • Authentic/Synthetic Pedagogy: When teachers integrate real-world projects, collaborative tasks, and multimedia outputs within Google Classroom, it reflects authentic learning. For example, group research projects or community-based assignments submitted digitally encourage the practical application of knowledge.
  • Transformative/Reflexive Pedagogy: The platform can also foster transformative learning if used to support student reflection, critical discussions, and feedback loops. Features like discussion boards or reflective journals allow learners to question assumptions, connect personal experiences, and reframe their perspectives.

Conclusion:

Google Classroom’s flexibility shows that e-learning tools are not bound to one pedagogy. The way teachers design and implement activities determines whether the practice becomes traditional, authentic, or transformative.
