Mimesis, Synthesis, & Reflexivity in Science Teaching

For how many years of teaching Science, I've found that mimesis, synthesis, and reflexivity play an important role in helping students learn effectively. During experiments, I've learned that simply knowing the steps isn't enough, they need to observe the details and scenarios,I emphasize. Another thing is, students also imitate how I speak or pronounce terms, so it's very important on the part of the teacher to be careful and accurate in everything.

Through synthesis, students apply what they've learned in other subjects or real-life situations. For example, using the concept of dissolving chemicals at home. With reflexivity they later realize how, when, and why to use these concepts. These processes show the true learning happens when students can imitate, connect, and reflect on what they learn.
