On the student side, personalized feedback and progress indicators motivate them to take responsibility for their learning and manage their study habits more effectively.

The effects of learning analytics in Canvas are generally positive. It promotes data-informed teaching, helping educators make better decisions about instruction and assessment. It also encourages student engagement and self-regulation, as learners can monitor their own performance in real time. However, it also raises concerns about data privacy and overreliance on metrics, since not all learning behaviors can be accurately captured by digital tools. Despite these challenges, learning analytics in Canvas has transformed the learning environment into a more personalized, responsive, and efficient space for both teachers and students.
