Abstract

This research aims to answer the following question: Can artistic practices be an ideal tool for social work with families in traumatic situations? To this end, after conducting a keyword search, the results of artivist projects carried out with families within the framework of educational communities during the first year of COVID 19 in Spain were analyzed following the social work method to assess the results of the initiatives applied in this emerging field. Thus, to achieve the objective of this study, a qualitative, mixed, exploratory, and holistic design was chosen. Interviews were conducted with directors and educators, and a questionnaire was administered to the participating families. The data collected was analyzed using the content analysis technique according to the variables that define the object of study. The results show that when art is collaboratively created and social work operates through these participatory practices, a synergistic relationship emerges that facilitates the achievement of objectives through reflective processes. These processes support emotional self-regulation and, when materialized through installed artworks, promote attitudinal change and foster interinstitutional collaboration.
