From Global Inspiration to Local Action
Abstract
This study embarked on an explorative qualitative examination of global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practices within higher education, aiming to offer actionable insights and recommendations for State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in the Province of Iloilo, Philippines. The focus revolved around an in-depth investigation of the varied and commendable CSR practices, emphasizing their integration into academic curricula, community engagement, environmental responsibility, ethical governance, and global collaborations. Based on detailed findings, a structured recommendation matrix was developed, considering the unique context and needs of the institutions in Iloilo Province. This matrix serves as a guide for implementing globally informed, locally resonant CSR initiatives, with the potential to instigate transformative changes within the participating institutions. The study contributes to the ongoing dialogue around CSR in higher education, providing a nuanced approach for the seamless adoption and integration of CSR principles, thereby enhancing the societal, environmental, and ethical impact of SUCs. It stands as a reflective and pragmatic contribution to advancing contextualized CSR practices in higher education, fostering a culture of sustainability, inclusivity, and global excellence in the academic landscape of Iloilo Province, Philippines.
