Abstract

This study examines the policies governing sexual and reproductive health (SRH) education in the Philippines, aiming to deepen understanding of their current status and impact on public health, particularly for children and youth. Through a detailed review of policies, press releases, and thematic analysis, the research identifies key factors influencing the development and implementation of SRH initiatives. It highlights the structural and social determinants that shape policy decisions and explores the broader context driving these actions. The study argues that the trends, or lack thereof, in SRH initiatives, are shaped by a complex interplay of compliance-driven motives and missed opportunities for optimizing policy potential. These dynamics often result in fragmented implementation, limiting the effectiveness of otherwise well-intended public policies. Findings from this research offer valuable insights for policymakers, educators, and advocates, emphasizing the need for more strategic and holistic approaches to SRH education. By addressing gaps in policy execution and fostering better communication strategies, this study aims to contribute to the development of more impactful public health education initiatives in the Philippines.
