The Evolution of Propaganda and Mass Persuasion
Abstract
The development of information flow methods has contributed to the emergence of propaganda concepts in society and the use of techniques and strategies to manipulate individuals’ emotions and direct them toward adopting ideologies, values, and opinions aligned with the goals of propaganda promoters. Propaganda methods emerged in the nineteenth century and were widely used as tools for mass mobilization in World War I. This trend accelerated significantly with the widespread adoption of social media and smartphones, which are closely tied to the dynamics of the post-truth era. The growing dissemination of propaganda and its effects in the age of globalization, along with the diverse tactics and consequences, it has on political, economic, and social frameworks, highlight the need for scholarly investigation to deepen our understanding of the phenomenon. This research article examines the propaganda strategies and models used in the dissemination of news and information across traditional and new media platforms. The objective is to analyze and understand the methods used to manipulate persuasion and impact public opinion. Additionally, the research explores the various types of propaganda models and their application in influencing public attitudes toward a range of issues.
