Intelligence Vs. Knowledge Testing; Stanford Binet Example
Intelligence tests measures mental abilities like reasoning and memory while knowledge tests measures acquired knowledge- a skill that was already mastered or taught.
Stanford-Binet Intelligence Test is one of the oldest and most widely used intelligence tests in the world. It is currently in its 5th edition (SB5) is being used by both children and adults. This includes five cognitive factors which are measured in both verbal and nonverbal formats. See the list below:
Fluid reasoning- ability to solve new problems
Knowledge-accumulated information or general knowledge
Quantitative reasoning- ability to solve mathematical concepts
Visual-Spatial Processing-ability to see patterns
Working Memory- refers to short term memory and ability to process the information actively
