Negotiating Learner Differences MOOC’s Updates

Addressing Socioeconomic Differences Through Inclusive Learning Environments

One significant difference affecting learning in the Philippine education system is socioeconomic status, which greatly influences students’ access to resources, nutrition, and technology. Learners from low-income families often struggle with inconsistent attendance, lack of school materials, and limited digital access, especially in remote areas. These challenges affect concentration, performance, and long-term educational outcomes. As a future educational leader, I recognize that while traditional institutions aim to provide equal education, they often fail to fully bridge this gap. However, programs like the DepEd School-Based Feeding Program and the integration of Alternative Learning System (ALS) exemplify efforts to address this disparity by ensuring that every child—regardless of background—has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.
