Embedding Assessment for Learning in School Events and Recognition Programs
As a facilitator of school-wide events, I’ve been integrating Assessment for Learning (AfL) principles into our recognition programs and assemblies. This includes:
1. Using affirming scripts that highlight growth, effort, and learning processes—not just outcomes
2. Designing feedback forms for participants to reflect on their contributions and set future goals
3. Creating visual boards and media that showcase student work with descriptive feedback
These strategies turn events into learning experiences, reinforcing a culture of reflection and celebration.
