Assessment for Learning MOOC’s Updates
Proposed Educational Evaluation – Work Immersion Program Effectiveness in Senior High School
I propose an educational evaluation focused on assessing the effectiveness of the Work Immersion Program in Philippine public senior high schools. This program is designed to provide students with real-world experience aligned with their academic track, but its implementation varies widely across schools and industries.
📝 Evaluation Outline: Work Immersion Program
Purpose of Evaluation
- To determine how well the Work Immersion Program prepares students for employment or further education.
- To identify gaps in implementation, mentorship quality, and alignment with student career goals.
Evaluation Questions
- Are students gaining relevant, track-aligned experience during immersion?
- How do students perceive the value and impact of their immersion?
- What challenges do schools and partner institutions face in delivering meaningful immersion experiences?
Data Sources
- Student surveys and focus group discussions
- Interviews with Work Immersion Coordinators and partner supervisors
- Review of immersion documentation (MOAs, activity logs, reflection papers)
- Post-immersion performance assessments
Indicators of Success
- Student self-reported confidence and skill acquisition
- Supervisor evaluations of student performance
- Alignment between immersion tasks and student academic track
- Rate of post-immersion employment or further study in related fields
Strengths of This Evaluation
- Grounded in student experience and stakeholder feedback
- Combines qualitative and quantitative data
- Directly informs program improvement and policy refinement
Limitations
- May be affected by variability in immersion settings and supervision quality
- Relies on self-reported data, which may be biased
- Limited longitudinal tracking of student outcomes
This evaluation supports Assessment for Learning by valuing student reflection, contextual relevance, and continuous improvement. It also affirms the role of educators as facilitators of meaningful, real-world learning.
