Multimodal

This concept recognizes that meaning is no longer created through language alone, but through a rich combination of modes visual, auditory, spatial, gestural, and textual each contributing uniquely to how knowledge is constructed and understood.

It also refers  to the practice of using multiple modes of communication to construct and convey understanding. In digital learning especially, meaning is expressed not just in words, but also in images, videos, graphs, body language, sound, color, layout, and interactivity.

Tools like Canva, Edpuzzle, and Google Slides with embedded media allow teachers to easily create multimodal content even with limited technical skill. In our digital era, the most powerful learning happens when students are both consumers and creators of multimodal meaning.
