Educational Counseling: Every Student Needs Availing

We do a lot of decision-making every day. In fact, we are capable of making decisions approximately 35,000 times; most of it happens in our subconscious mind. We can somehow easily decide what time to set the alarm, what to eat for lunch, or which work to do first. But can we, or did we, easily decide on a career to take?

A lot of different jobs are created, making educational counseling in demand. It has become important to students who seek professional assistance in deciding on a career. Students can also approach educational counselors with their academic concerns. These counselors are important for students to avoid confusion and avoid taking the wrong step in their choice of course. They help students understand their strengths, talents, personal preferences, and limitations.

During my last year in high school, we took a career aptitude test. This helped us identify the possible career we can take. This was conducted by our guidance counselor at our university. I looked at my top 3 possible careers. The result took me by surprise because one of them was a landscape engineer. Maybe I have an interest in landscapes, but I don't have the skill for it. I also considered my resources; pursuing it might be expensive. Another one, no one among the family has the same career; guidance is off the chart.

During my last year in college (a different university from my high school's), our university had a career day. We were instructed to bring resumes. We were able to apply for jobs. We experienced being interviewed, though we were just prospective graduates. This helped us know what to expect and worry less about application concerns. Our guidance counselor was behind the organization of the said activity.

Having guidance counselors in the university one is attending is a privilege. Having a career day, career aptitude test, or other similar activities are must-haves of every university.
