Social-emotional Learning
An educational counseling practice that I think would be a great help to prevent bullying and violence is Social-emotional Learning. SEL emphasizes the importance of understanding and managing emotions, building healthy relationships, developing social awareness, and learning how to become a better person.
There are 5 core competencies of Social-emotional Learning, one is self-awareness. It is the ability to help students understand their moods, feelings, thoughts, behaviors and how these influence them and other people. Self-awareness fosters deeper and respectful relationships with other people, better decision making, and adapting to challenging situations.
Second is self-management skills, where students learn to understand and manage their feelings in healthy ways. When students learn to regulate their emotions in handling stressful situations, it reduces disruptive behavior and encourages positive conduct.
Third is social-awareness. It teaches students to understand perspectives and feelings of other people, respecting cultural differences and to fully comprehend social and ethical norms. By understanding different viewpoints, students form and maintain meaningful connections with peers and their teachers and manage disagreements peacefully.
Fourth is relationship skills. It is the ability to establish and maintain a healthy relationship with diverse individuals or groups. It teaches students to communicate clearly and listen to other people's perspectives. It teaches how to resolve conflicts in a respectful manner and knowing when to seek help and provide support.
The last one is responsible decision-making, where it teaches students to understand the situations carefully and consider the consequences of their choices. Thinking about the outcomes of their actions and how it affects the people around them, helps reduce negative behaviors like bullying and violence.
In conclusion, SEL creates a positive relationship and a sense of belonging in school culture. It promotes positive behaviors and helps students to cope with everyday challenges. Integrating it in education is a great help to address conflicts and reduce violence in school.

This is a fantastic application of psychological principles! You clearly articulate how SEL's five core competencies—especially Self-Awareness and Social Awareness—directly address the root causes of conflict by fostering empathy and responsible decision-making. Integrating SEL shifts the focus from simply punishing negative behavior (behaviorism) to proactively developing the internal skills (social mind) students need to manage their emotions and negotiate relationships peacefully.
