Career Guidance: A Vital Practice in Educational Counseling
An educational counseling practice that interests me is career guidance and development for college students—or even as early as senior high school. Many of the students I have handled, especially those transitioning from senior high to college, often feel uncertain about which course or career path to pursue.
This lack of clarity can lead to frustration, loss of motivation, or even frequent shifting of courses later on. I find this area particularly relevant because effective career counseling helps students identify their strengths, interests, and values, and align these with suitable career opportunities.
Having a dedicated career counselor in every school provides an essential avenue for offering assessments, one-on-one guidance, and opportunities for real-world exposure. Through these supports, counselors can help students make more informed and confident decisions about their future. I believe that when students develop a clear sense of purpose and direction, they become more engaged and motivated in their studies, setting the foundation for a fulfilling and sustainable adult life.
