Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing education by offering unprecedented tools for personalized learning, efficient administrative processes, and innovative teaching strategies. However, the adoption of AI in education remains inconsistent, creating a growing equity divide among students and institutions. This article examines the barriers to AI integration in classrooms, including disparities in funding, educator attitudes, and access to professional development (PD) opportunities. Drawing on survey data, the study explores how teacher perceptions and institutional support may impact AI adoption within a specific institutional context. Findings reveal that while AI can significantly enhance student outcomes, preliminary insights from our exploratory survey suggest that resistance to adoption, insufficient PD, and inequitable resource distribution may hinder broader implementation efforts. The study underscores the need for targeted policies, sustained PD programs, and equitable funding to ensure that AI’s transformative potential is accessible to all students. Ultimately, this article advocates for a proactive approach to AI integration, focusing on bridging existing divides and preparing students for an AI-driven future.
