Abstract

This work analyzes the value that graduates in pedagogy consider themselves to have as professionals within the Asturian business context. The previous and current employment situation of these professionals is identified, as well as their initial and complementary training and the strategies and resources used for job searching, in addition to analyzing the factors that influence their insertion, as well as the social and professional perception and job opportunities of the pedagogue. A quantitative methodology was implemented with a nonexperimental design using a questionnaire as a data collection instrument, in which 369 pedagogy professionals participated. The results show that these professionals consider that the degree program is poorly connected with the socio-labor reality and that there is a lack of development of transversal competences throughout their professional careers that they must acquire through complementary training once it has finished. It is also concluded that there is no professional recognition of pedagogy professionals in the work context beyond the educational field and that they should work on their professional brand as well as on the creation of a professional association that supports them as such.
