Social Objectives for Education
A contemporary example of educational political rhetoric is UNESCO’s Reimagining Our Futures Together: A New Social Contract for Education (2021), which frames education as a public good aimed at equity, sustainability, and social cohesion. While the text clearly articulates broad social goals and presents a strong moral vision, it offers limited practical guidance on implementation. As a result, it is rhetorically powerful but conceptually abstract, with its real impact depending on how these ideals are translated into concrete policies and classroom practices.
