Introduction to Personalised Learning
The first and foremost goal of an institution is to provide education according to a students needs. But students do come from a diversed background where there might be students with special needs, also students who are rather advanced compared to their peers and those who struggle sometimes while excelling at other times. So, to meet the educational needs of every learner differentiated learning approach has been introduced.
Differentiated learning is an approach to education that recognizes and responds to diverse learning needs, abilities, interests, learning styles of students. Teachers teach the same topic in different ways so that each student can learn according to their needs and abilities.
Personalised learning is a form of differentiated learning. But it has more focus on individual learning. It is more advanced and a student-centered learning which tailors instructions, content, pace, learning strategies to meet the unique needs, interest and abilities of each individual student. Moreover, it considers a student's strengths, weakness, interest and learning style. In simple, personalised learning makes education flexible, students-centered and tailored to help each learner reach their full potential.
