Even in the Philippines, didactic pedagogy survives when teachers lecture on grammar rules or math formulas in large public school classes, assuring accuracy and efficiency. Such teaching is appropriate in resource-poor conditions home or in the case of teaching basic skills but soon becomes an anachronism when students need critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity as called for by the K-12 curriculum.
