Challenges and Systemic Issues in Philippine Education


Despite the various programsand revamp in education in the Philippines, deep-rooted issues continue to affect the quality of education and these have to addressed. The revamp in these areas shoudl ebgiven priority by the government.

Infrastructure shortage: The country faces a severe shortage of classrooms, with estimates in 2025 citing a deficit of over 165,000 classrooms.
Teacher well-being and shortages: Teachers face issues like overlapping tasks, low salaries, and inadequate support, contributing to teacher shortages. Some post-pandemic surveys also indicate low teacher morale.
Budget and resources: Insufficient funding impacts school facilities, resources, and teachers' salaries, especially in rural areas, perpetuating educational disparities.
Learning loss: The long period of remote learning during the pandemic has raised concerns about learning loss and declining student motivation, issues that institutions are still trying to address.
